The Lay Pastoral Ministry Institute (LPMI) of the Diocese of St. Petersburg provides education and formation for laity in the Catholic Faith. This process was initiated by Bishop Lynch in response to the question of how people in the diocese might grow in their faith. The LPMI is a four-year program for lay leadership formation consisting of an informal Year of Discernment, and three years of formational training. The Institute offers a certificate in foundational pastoral ministry leadership upon completion of these four years.
The LPMI is the initial phase of study for those men discerning the permanent diaconate. The first segment of this program, the Year of Discernment, consists of four sets of four evenings sessions and one day of reflection. Program information can be found on the LPMI website or by contacting the LPMI office at 727.344.1611 x366.
So, often, people ask how they might grow in their faith. In response to this searching, Bishop Lynch initiated the Lay Pastoral Ministry Institute. The LPMI is a four-year program: an informal year of discernment and three years of formal academic training and spiritual growth.
The initial segment of the program, the Year of Discernment, consists of eight Saturday sessions from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm. The classes will meet at the Christ the King Parish, located at 821 South Dale Mabry Hwy, Tampa, FL 33609. Classes begin on September 8, 2012 and continue once monthly through April 2013.
The LPMI provides education and formation for laity in the Catholic faith. The program is designed to enhance personal faith and develop intellectual aptitude to enrich personal ministry. For anyone interested in attending the LPMI Year of Discernment, brochures are available from Karen in the parish office. In addition, the registration form and program information can be found on the LPMI website. For more information, call the LPMI office at 727.344.1611. Registrations are due in the LPMI office no later than September 1, 2012.

Various Adult Faith Formation programs are offered on Monday evenings to coincide with our Monday evening Religious Education program. We meet in the Parish Center from 6:15 pm to 7:30 pm. In the past we have focused on Bible studies utilizing “The Great Adventure Foundational Study Series” which is a interactive study using a workbook, teaching using DVD, and faith sharing. We have also offered a program on “Catholicism 101” developed by Jeff Cavins on Sunday mornings while our Parish Center was being renovated. The intention is to offer more opportunities in the future to connect faith to life and life to faith.
