Message & Prayer
- Read and discuss the readings for the upcoming Sunday's Mass (They can be found online at www.usccb.org by clicking on the tab labeled "Readings" at the top of the page).
- Find good Catholic prayers by looking in the back of an old religion book or bible, going online to find some, or purchasing a book.
- Take time each night, before dinner, before bed, etc. to pray as an entire family, using the prayers you've found.
- Pray for the intercession of your children's saints. Find a book of novenas (or go online) and pray them as a family.
Worship
- Attend Sunday Mass as a family every week.
- Plan to attend Mass on an occasional Saturday morning when Reconciliation is offered afterwards.
- Attend Eucharistic Adoration on the First Friday of every month in the chapel of the Main Church from 9:00-2:30pm.
- Attend special parish liturgies that arise.
Community
- Attend a parish social function.
- Help out at a parish social function (even if it's simply informally helping to clean-up afterwards).
- Support a parishioner who has suffered an illness or loss of a loved one and needs encouragement, sympathy, or material help (sending cards, visiting the hospital or a nursing home as a family, etc.)
- Apologize for moments of impatience with your children and make them do the same with one another, putting aside grudges that can cause strained relationships.
Service
- Volunteer as a family to do service in the parish or community.
- Offer to do someone's duties/chores at home to relieve pressure.
- Focus on a neighborhood need and take steps to improve the situation. Clean the house or yard of an elderly person, pull the weeds out of the sidewalks, etc.
- Donate food items to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
- Include the needy of the world in your family prayers.
