With his Apostolic Letter of October 11, 2011 titled "Porta Fidei," Pope Benedict XVI declared that a "Year of Faith" will begin on October 11, 2012 and conclude on November 24, 2013. During this time, the Holy Father will grant to members of the Christian faithful the Plenary Indulgence for the temporal punishment of sins. Further information on Plenary Indulgences and how they may be obtained during the Year of Faith can be found U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops website.

Dear Friends in Christ,
This is the Feast of Pentecost! We have always acknowledged this weekend as a kind of birthday for Espiritu Santo Parish. Because Espiritu Santo means Holy Spirit, the beginning of the Church at Pentecost takes on a special meaning for us. In this Year of Faith, we continue to pray that we will always be a “community of faith, led by the Spirit”!
I am so glad to have the chance to preach all the Masses this weekend. It is a time for me to show my heartfelt appreciation for all this community of faith does as followers of Jesus. Our new Pope Francis has shown us the way in reaching out in sincere love and generosity in the name of Christ. Remember that we are having receptions for everyone after all the Masses this weekend to celebrate this birthday of our parish!
A Happy and Blessed Pentecost to all!
And let us continue to pray for one another.

“The Counselor, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything and remind you of all that I told you.” (John 14:26)
The materialism of our society lures us to concentrate more on what we want than on what God wants for us and from us. It is good to know that when we are confused by our stewardship responsibilities, we can call on the Holy Spirit to show us the way.
