Baby Baptism

Baptism (Infants)
Congratulations on the birth of your child! What a great joy! What a great gift!
Our community of Espiritu Santo Parish rejoices with you on this most special occasion. All are welcome here, and so we especially look forward to welcoming your child to our faith community. Our Catholic faith tells us that in Baptism we are fully incorporated into the community of Christian believers – the Body of Christ. And so we look forward to providing you and your child that opportunity. The Sacrament of Baptism is the first sacrament which begins our initiation into the Christian community.
For information about scheduling the baptism of your child, please call us at 727.726.8477 or email We will be happy to speak with you about what we can do together to welcome your child into the Espiritu Santo faith community. We will ask you to complete forms that will provide us with important information that will make it possible for us to proceed with the baptism. Generally, we also ask that the parents or guardians of the child attend a two-hour orientation program, designed to acquaint you with the purpose and role of Baptism in the life of the child, family, and community. This preparation helps us to more fully enter into the great joy of this sacrament.
We look forward to welcoming your child into the Espiritu Santo community of faith, and into our global Roman Catholic Church. We also look forward to hearing from you soon. Until then, be assured of our prayers and love.

Baptism (Adults)
rciaBaptism of adults is provided via the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA). The rite focuses on conversion to Christ through the discovery of the real presence of Christ in our lives. We all have a story and Christ has been and always will be part of that story. The rite assists the candidates for baptism in making that discovery. Through the rite, adults are incorporated into the body of Christ as explained above and provided teaching concerning Catholic Christian living in our complicated world by providing a framework for making those choices; love of God and neighbor.
